Day Six - A Normal Day in Ha Long Bay

October 16, 2019

Ahoy seagulls, wait, no, you are land dwellers. Har har har. Well yee day was normal and I am going to get back to normal talking instead pirate language.

For breakfast we went to some food stalls in an alley way near my school. I had banh bao (steamed bread stuffed with meats and eggs), vegetarian scrambled eggs, cha gio (pork sausage), xoi (sticky rice), and ice tea – all Vietnamese food I love. When my mom went to pay, it all cost only $1.50!! I was surprised that it did not cost a lot at all.

Then I had to go to the place where I get tutored. Normally it is for 3 hours or more but now because I get my work done faster, I can leave after 2 hours. Today it rained so I couldn't go swimming. So, my mom went to get me a chess set and paper to draw instead. At the supply store I saw Halloween stuff. My mom was right, they do celebrate Halloween in Vietnam. I literally cried when I thought I may miss Halloween. Now I can celebrate in Viet Nam too.

Then we went to look for some ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress). I was bored but my mom collects ao dai, so I had to go. She also wanted to get a haircut but they didn't know how to cut her hair in the salon. The salon had beautiful big fish, the size of my hand!

Oh, and when I walked on the street I saw a statue of the the general I saw in my vision. I told my mom about it and she later told the Shaman. She Shaman showed me a picture of the general and he looked just like in my vision. He was commanding the army I was in. I also three dragons then. The Shaman said my "sight" is very powerful. That's all.

Bye here are some pics. It's really all I did today it kinda a kid's average day, so the day was normal,  - _ -

You have to try chicken feet! It's delicious. Is it the salty or savory ones or the pickled ones?

I will remind the class to comment.

Today we watched two videos that are some of the EARLIEST animations and they were both by Disney. We compared and contrasted them and later learned more about the field trip we are going on.

Today, we watched 1929 animations! They were both Disney. As our writing, we compared and contrasted both of the animations. What I learned, was that they were both black and white, have no talking and they are both really old. we learned more about the field trip we are going on.

Your lucky you ever get to swim. I hardly ever get to swim. Today we studied animations and we watched 2 short videos on some of the very first animations ever! One was called " Steamboat Willie " and the other was " The Skeleton Dance ".

We learned about animation today. Ms. Chan found old Disney films that were black and white. We had to watch them and compare and contrast each one.

Side comment: Why couldn't they cut your mom's hair

Hi Toussaint! Mrs. Chan said that we have to tell you what we learned about animation so I'm going to. We learned that Walt Disney made the first animation, that Disney owns Dreamworks, and that the first ever animation is called Steamboat Willy. That's it for
interesting stuff I learned. Now for highlights. The first graders of Room 4 (That's Mrs. Tomas's room) gave us thank you cards. Crumple is still hanging in there. Junior left for Hawai'i yesterday. The most interesting piece of news is that there is a spirit in the classroom but everytime I try to get a good look it flits away. that is all for now. Bye!

Did Jr. leave for good or just vacay. I watched Steamboat Willie I never knew Mickey Mouse was so violent because he shoved a hay bail down a cow's throat. The cow had utters of steel.

Hi Tous, I'm so happy you get to celebrate Halloween in Viet Nam. What are you going to dress up as? I'm going to dress up in Kumon. It will be fun and a great class day. I hope I will see my students dress up too.
