Day Ten - Totally Lazy Day

October 20th

Hey, guys, what's up? I am bored but blogging. I could have went to the beach but the wind was blowing hard so did nothing. I should have went earlier.

After school I went home and went on my ipad. I played Minecraft for two hours just getting armor to fight the Wither and the Ender Dragon. Of course, I died before I got the nether star from the Wither because of decay. My mom didn't mind too much today and let me get away with tons of screen time because she had a report to finish.

I didn't feel like going outside because I am a lazy avocado. I had my mom make me ramen at home. My mom then went out for fresh coconut and also brought me snacks like French cookies and ice-cream. I didn't move from the couch at all :(

But, I cleaned up after myself and washed dishes. My mom said I can get allowance here, 50,000 dong per week. That sounds like a lot of money LOL. It's probably only around $2.50. I am going to get coconut juice which is only 30,000 dong. With 20,000 dong left, I can get a popsicle. I think I will ask my mom for a bigger allowance, maybe 100,000 dong. I wish my mom had enough dong to get me a moped like in the picture. Wonder if I can save up for it.

Bye guys. I hope I can have playdates with you all and play mine craft and do some crazy stuff with mods.

Day Six - A Normal Day in Ha Long Bay

October 16, 2019 Ahoy seagulls, wait, no, you are land dwellers. Har har har. Well yee day was normal and I am going to get back to normal talking instead pirate language. For breakfast we went to some food stalls in an alley way near my school. I had banh bao (steamed bread stuffed with meats and eggs), vegetarian scrambled eggs, cha gio (pork sausage), xoi (sticky rice), and ice tea – all Vietnamese food I love. When my mom went to pay, it all cost only $1.50!! I was surprised that it did not cost a lot at all. Then I had to go to the place where I get tutored. Normally it is for 3 hours or more but now because I get my work done faster, I can leave after 2 hours. Today it rained so I couldn't go swimming. So, my mom went to get me a chess set and paper to draw instead. At the supply store I saw Halloween stuff. My mom was right, they do celebrate Halloween in Vietnam. Heading Back to Ha Long Bay

I am going to Ha Long Bay with my mother. She is a professor that is researching in Vietnam. I will learn about the history of the Bay. I know that there are high levels of pollution there. I saw it last time I went to Ha Long. I will try to learn more about the environment and try to help with clean up. My mother will be working with a Shaman who is a spiritual healer. I sometimes think I have special powers too. For instance, I can sometimes see spirits an channel the dead. Ha Long Bay is a magical place with many spiritual wonders. I can hardly wait to go again. I will go swimming every day if I finish my homework from Ms. Chan. I wish this was a vacation with no homework but it sadly is :( At least I can blog to you dudes and dudettes of the fun I am having. This was a picture of me when I was in Ha Long Bay at 8 years old.

Day Three - The Market

October 13, 2019 The Market  This morning Co  Oanh and Bi came to see us ( wife and son of the Shaman) . We were hungry, so they took us to have  banh cuon  for breakfast, it is  some sort of rice dish with meat. I had it many times before. It was pretty good here, especially cha lua ( fish patty)  that came with it. But, I think it was made of squid instead, cha muc. Then we went to a coffee shop. We were there for a LOOOONG time because my mom ordered filter drip coffee and it takes forever to drip (see pix). I didn't mind because Bi knows a lot of kids in the neighborhood and we hung out playing miniature pool and even crossed the street by ourselves to meet with other kids.  After breakfast we went to the market to get ingredients to make lunch.  The market was crazy because people drove TANKS in there. LOL Okay, just kidding, why would they do that? It is still crazy though, because instead of tanks, they drove mopeds and motorbikes...
