Day Nine - Vietnam's Women's Day

 Today was Vietnam's Women's Day. On this day all of Vietnam celebrates women and girls. I gave my mom a rose and I gave my teacher an apple pear. 

 When I got to school there was cake to celebrate Women's Day. After eating yummy cake, we got to go on a field trip. We all got into three taxis to this secluded forest area. I saw lots of trees and a small tower on a cliff. I almost made it to the top. It was amazing. 

 Then we went to the Sun World amusement park to look for something to drink. One third of the group went looking for drinks (NOT BEER). :0 We found this tea one place and I got Taro Boba milk tea, my favorite.

It was fun to celebrate Vietnam Women's and so I want to know, WHY DOES THE U.S. NOT CELEBRATE WOMEN'S DAY? I think it's flappy stupid not to. 

                                                                                                   


Oh, and we finally had pho for breakfast. We came into the pho shop in the same building where we live. We had to call out our order to the cook. Then the pho came. I ate a little because I was not hungry again.
Before I forget, I just learned how to use my GoPro. I had to research about it on Youtube. So, now I will start bringing it with me everywhere to take pix for everyone.

Day Six - A Normal Day in Ha Long Bay

October 16, 2019 Ahoy seagulls, wait, no, you are land dwellers. Har har har. Well yee day was normal and I am going to get back to normal talking instead pirate language. For breakfast we went to some food stalls in an alley way near my school. I had banh bao (steamed bread stuffed with meats and eggs), vegetarian scrambled eggs, cha gio (pork sausage), xoi (sticky rice), and ice tea – all Vietnamese food I love. When my mom went to pay, it all cost only $1.50!! I was surprised that it did not cost a lot at all. Then I had to go to the place where I get tutored. Normally it is for 3 hours or more but now because I get my work done faster, I can leave after 2 hours. Today it rained so I couldn't go swimming. So, my mom went to get me a chess set and paper to draw instead. At the supply store I saw Halloween stuff. My mom was right, they do celebrate Halloween in Vietnam. Heading Back to Ha Long Bay

I am going to Ha Long Bay with my mother. She is a professor that is researching in Vietnam. I will learn about the history of the Bay. I know that there are high levels of pollution there. I saw it last time I went to Ha Long. I will try to learn more about the environment and try to help with clean up. My mother will be working with a Shaman who is a spiritual healer. I sometimes think I have special powers too. For instance, I can sometimes see spirits an channel the dead. Ha Long Bay is a magical place with many spiritual wonders. I can hardly wait to go again. I will go swimming every day if I finish my homework from Ms. Chan. I wish this was a vacation with no homework but it sadly is :( At least I can blog to you dudes and dudettes of the fun I am having. This was a picture of me when I was in Ha Long Bay at 8 years old.

Day Three - The Market

October 13, 2019 The Market  This morning Co  Oanh and Bi came to see us ( wife and son of the Shaman) . We were hungry, so they took us to have  banh cuon  for breakfast, it is  some sort of rice dish with meat. I had it many times before. It was pretty good here, especially cha lua ( fish patty)  that came with it. But, I think it was made of squid instead, cha muc. Then we went to a coffee shop. We were there for a LOOOONG time because my mom ordered filter drip coffee and it takes forever to drip (see pix). I didn't mind because Bi knows a lot of kids in the neighborhood and we hung out playing miniature pool and even crossed the street by ourselves to meet with other kids.  After breakfast we went to the market to get ingredients to make lunch.  The market was crazy because people drove TANKS in there. LOL Okay, just kidding, why would they do that? It is still crazy though, because instead of tanks, they drove mopeds and motorbikes...
