Day 12 - The Day of Amazingness (aka allowance)

Image
Hey guys I am back playing blog LOL. Okay, so the title of the blog wasn't named what it is for no reason. It is because I got to my first allowance today for washing dishes all week. I get to buy what my mommy doesn't want to get for me because it's not "healthy." I bought gummy bears because they are yummy and gum for good breath. Most of the day I got to binge on Rick and Morty on Netflix. I know you think I am crazy but the Vietnam TV has the old version of Netflix, like really old. Anyway, it's a show about a drunk genius scientist grandpa and his sidekick grandson, Morty, traveling through the universe togehter. I think Morty is exactly like me because he's kinda dumb, not good in math at all, but up for anything. My favorite episode so far was when aliens were these weird characters that implanted memories of themselves on the family. One was called Mr. Poopie Butthole. How funny is that???? Oh, and I went to school and I found out there is a ...

Day 11 - Tran Hung Dao (A National Hero)

Image
It is another normal day in Ha Long Bay so I think I will talk about Tran Hung Dao. Who is he? Well, he was a prince and general of Viet Nam about one thousand years ago. He is the most famous national hero of Viet Nam because he defeated China and the Mongols.  I read online there are temples for him everywhere. People worship him like a god. I see his statues in shops around town too. Usually he's dressed in armor and holding a spear.  In the first few days of being in Ha Long, I got to visit a Tran Hung Dao temple. In there  saw his statue, statues of his two daughters, and his advisors too. People were there to pray for fortune and health.  I was paying respects to Tran Hung Dao when I had visions of Tran Hung Dao and his army. Turns out in my past life, I was soldier under his command. I saw it so clear, like the kinds of weapons we used. Tran Hung Dao had a jade spear. I had some knives and a sword. That's when the shaman knew I had yin eyes.

Day Ten - Totally Lazy Day

Image
October 20th Hey, guys, what's up? I am bored but blogging. I could have went to the beach but the wind was blowing hard so did nothing. I should have went earlier. After school I went home and went on my ipad. I played Minecraft for two hours just getting armor to fight the Wither and the Ender Dragon. Of course, I died before I got the nether star from the Wither because of decay. My mom didn't mind too much today and let me get away with tons of screen time because she had a report to finish. I didn't feel like going outside because I am a lazy avocado. I had my mom make me ramen at home. My mom then went out for fresh coconut and also brought me snacks like French cookies and ice-cream. I didn't move from the couch at all :( But, I cleaned up after myself and washed dishes. My mom said I can get allowance here, 50,000 dong per week. That sounds like a lot of money LOL. It's probably only around $2.50. I am going to get coconut juice which is only 30,000 ...

Day Nine - Vietnam's Women's Day

Image
October 20, 2019 Today was Vietnam's Women's Day. On this day all of Vietnam celebrates women and girls. I gave my mom a rose and I gave my teacher an apple pear.  When I got to school there was cake to celebrate Women's Day. After eating yummy cake, we got to go on a field trip. We all got into three taxis to this secluded forest area. I saw lots of trees and a small tower on a cliff. I almost made it to the top. It was amazing.  Then we went to the Sun World amusement park to look for something to drink. One third of the group went looking for drinks (NOT BEER). :0  We found this tea one place and I got Taro Boba milk tea, my favorite. It was fun to celebrate Vietnam Women's and so I want to know, WHY DOES THE U.S. NOT CELEBRATE WOMEN'S DAY? I think it's flappy stupid not to.                                                    ...

Day Eight - Playing with Friends in Temple

October 18, 2019 Hi guys it is me. I am close to my bed time. I know you guys are in school right now or you're not because it is most likely this blog will get to you guys later. If I wait to publish it, it will take a long time. I don't know but it is not going to get to you guys right when I send it, I don't think. So I had 2 hours and a half of school work today. It was really hot in my classroom so it was tiring to do work. After working my friend, co Oanh, had to pick me up to wait with her because my mom was researching in the temple. Then co Oanh's son, Bin, gave me a ride to the temple. I keep asking my mom to rent one.  I really liked being on a motorcycle on the way  to temple. It was the place where I was told to "read" people and scan them to see their spirit body. I was at that place again today. But, I did not have to read anyones spirit body and I just had fun with my new friends, Bi and Bien cousins, I think. The baby girl really likes ...

Day Seven - More Fun and Shaman Training

Image
Hey,  get away from me I am sending blogs, they are very fragile. Just kidding. This morning my mom woke me up early to have breakfast so I was pretty tired. The food was delicious though. We were going to have pho but the "Ha Long pho" (aka bún riêu hải sản) was available. We also had banh cuon again. You can see the nuoc mam sauce this time in the picture.   I told my mom to take the picture of the moped because want her to get it for me. She said, "no way." But, I saw lots of kids my size riding this moped. What do you think? Should I ride it?  After eating I worked on cursive and we watched "The Series of Unfortunate Events." It is interesting and cool. My favorite character is the baby because she can chew thick rope. She also can talk but not talk.  School was out today YAY! So, my mom took me to the beach again. She always bargains with the taxi driver and if they don't take her price, we walk 15 minutes to the beach. The taxi drivers a...

Day Six - A Normal Day in Ha Long Bay

Image
October 16, 2019 Ahoy seagulls, wait, no, you are land dwellers. Har har har. Well yee day was normal and I am going to get back to normal talking instead pirate language. For breakfast we went to some food stalls in an alley way near my school. I had banh bao (steamed bread stuffed with meats and eggs), vegetarian scrambled eggs, cha gio (pork sausage), xoi (sticky rice), and ice tea – all Vietnamese food I love. When my mom went to pay, it all cost only $1.50!! I was surprised that it did not cost a lot at all. Then I had to go to the place where I get tutored. Normally it is for 3 hours or more but now because I get my work done faster, I can leave after 2 hours. Today it rained so I couldn't go swimming. So, my mom went to get me a chess set and paper to draw instead. At the supply store I saw Halloween stuff. My mom was right, they do celebrate Halloween in Vietnam. I literally cried when I thought I may miss Halloween. Now I can celebrate in Viet Nam too. Then we we...
